Bus conductor behaved disorderly at police station

-court hears

Sherwin Fields, a twenty-seven-year-old minibus conductor of Lot 44, Fourth Street, Alberttown was on Monday granted bail in the sum of $10,000 when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson for allegedly behaving in a disorderly manner at the Alberttown Police Station.

Fields initially pleaded guilty to the charge of disorderly behaviour when it was read to him at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

He stated that on June 20 he was ordered to report to the station because someone had made an allegation against him.

He said that when he got there the corporal in charge at that time told him that an arrest warrant had been issued for him in relation to a reported rape.

He said that he told the corporal that he was not in the area of the alleged rape since he was at his mother’s home.

He said that at this point the corporal started to raise her voice “so I raise me voice more hard” and soon after he was told that he was being charged for behaving disorderly.

The magistrate then entered a not guilty plea for Fields.

Prosecutor Dennise Griffith stated that while at the station, Fields had said that the corporal was always accusing him of something and interfering with him.

She then informed the court that Fields currently has another matter pending against him in another court.

The magistrate granted Fields bail and ordered that he return to court on July 8.
