Girl, 19, admitted to hospital with stab wounds

A 19-year-old girl was last evening admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) nursing stab wounds to her right lower abdomen.

Shalo Gildharie of 316 Enterprise Gardens, East Coast Demerara reportedly received the injuries some time before 4 pm yesterday.

When Stabroek News visited the GPH yesterday, Gildharie’s mother Sugito Ramcoomar said that her daughter’s mother-in law had told her that Gildharie was walking down the stairs when she slipped and fell on a knife she had been cleaning fish with.

However, the visibly distressed Ramcoomar said she had her doubts as to whether that was what had happened.

“I know I wasn’t there when dis thing happen, but I don’t believe that me daughter fall down on no knife. Duh ain’t sound right to me.

How de damage [wounds] deh, it look like is somebody stab she,” the distressed mother said.

Ramcoomar said Gildharie and her husband had an argument on Friday and that resulted in him slapping her.
She opined that the spat between her daughter and husband might have escalated resulting in him injuring her yesterday.

When asked what had caused the quarrel, Ramcoomar could not say. “I don’t live with dem, suh me aint really know.

But meh daughter tell meh dat she and she husband had a quarrel and he slap she.”
