Magistrate accuses man of dangerous driving

A man who was accused by Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry

of driving in a dangerous manner was yesterday placed on $50,000 bail when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that on July 20 at Providence, Cleveland Hillman, 45, of 10 Land of Canaan drove motor lorry THH 5313 in a dangerous manner.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge of dangerous driving when it was read to him by the acting chief magistrate.

Magistrate Sewnarine-Beharry was not present at court yesterday.

Attorney-at-law Jaya Manickchand who represented the defendant asked that her client be admitted to reasonable bail on the grounds that he has an unblemished record and poses no risk of flight.

Hillman was later placed on $50,000 bail. His matter was transferred to Court Six for August 21.
