A release from the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GT&T) yesterday said that aerial telephone cables and the exchange switch in the area were damaged.

The strike occurred at around 5 pm on Wednesday and since then the phone company’s technicians have been restoring service to affected customers.

GT&T says residents have been informed via notices on television and radio.
