Alim Azimullah attains taekwondo coaching diploma

Second Dan World Taekwondo Federation Kukkiwon Black Belt holder Alim Azimullah recently returned from Mexico after a training course for coaches to aid the development of taekwondo in Guyana.

According to a release from the Guyana Taekwondo Association (GTA), the course was sponsored by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) through the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) and was held in Mexico City, Mexico from July 13 to July 18 with the aim of upgrading coaches to be able to train and maintain their high performance athletes at  world standard throughout the year.

While in Mexico, Azimullah studied a course that had a lot of theoretical implications and in his own words, “The course was very informative and interesting.”

Azimullah has played an active role in the GTA for the past 15 years. And following his dedication he is now reaping the benefits of his labour in securing over the years several gold, silver and bronze medals  while representing Guyana through the GTA in many international and local taekwondo competitions.

He joined the GTA at the tender age of 11 years  and is  grateful to his parents, who showed their love and support for him by bringing him to every training session as a child.

He also expressed his appreciation of  the support he has been receiving  from  all the coaches and members of the GTA who helped him to reach this far in taekwondo.

Additionally he extended gratitude to all the members of the GOA, the IOC and the Mexican Olympic Committee, who made it possible for him to be a part of the recent training opportunity.
