The report stated that Thaurdyal pleaded not guilty to the charge yesterday when he appeared before Magistrate Derence Rolle-Davis who deferred the bail hearing to allow officials on the island to determine the man’s immigration status.

According to the report the court heard that at the time of the incident Thaurdyal was living with his alleged victim’s mother, who is Bahamian. He reportedly married a Bahamian woman several years ago but they have since separated. Thaurdyal was expected to know if he would have been freed on bail yesterday.
