‘Big Head’ remanded over felonious wounding at Mahdia

A 27-year-old pork-knocker was on Wednesday remanded to prison when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on a charge of felonious wounding.

Desmond Rigby, aka ‘Big Head’ of 63 Middle Street,  McDoom, East Bank Demerara, was not required to plead to the indictable charge of felonious wounding when it was read to him by the Acting Chief Magistrate.

It is alleged that on July 27 at Mahdia, Rigby unlawfully and maliciously wounded Marlon Williams with intent to maim, disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm.

The prosecution informed the court that the virtual complainant was still hospitalised owing to stab wounds he sustained from the defendant.
When given a chance to respond, the accused declined.

The unrepresented Rigby was later remanded to prison. His matter was transferred to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court for August 10.
