Woods eyes third Buick title after extending lead

GRAND BLANC, Michigan, (Reuters) – Tiger Woods  increased his lead to two-shots after a bogey-free front nine in  the final round at the Buick Open yesterday, tightening his grip  on a third title.

Playing his first tournament since missing the cut at the  British Open last month, Woods began the day with a one-shot  cushion and picked up birdies at the fourth and seventh to reach  the turn at a sun-kissed Warwick Hills at 19-under.American Roland Thatcher was in the clubhouse sitting two  back of the world number one after storming into contention with  a final round eight-under 64.

South Korea’s Y.E. Yang, American Vaughn Taylor and  Australian John Senden were all four off the pace still out on  the course.

Golf’s ultimate front-runner, Woods has a 35-1 record when  holding the solo lead going into final round, his only loss  coming in 1996 at the John Deere Classic.
