Bagotstown are East Bank b/ball champs

Bagotstown were crowned  champions of this year’s East Bank Basketball Championships which was held on Sunday last at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Throughout the championships Bagotstown had been a strong force against the other East Bank teams who dared to challenge them and in the  final against Samatta Point  they won 46-32.

But at half time it could have been anyone’s game with Bagotstown holding a slim six point lead  23-17.

The top scorer for Bagotstown was Darren Thomas with 11 points.

Sherman Oxford was the top scorer for Samatta Point with 11 points.

Supply/Soesdyke and Barama fought it out  before the final in the third place decider with  Supply/Soesdyke winning the close contest

50-48.

At halftime Supply/Soesdyke led Barama 26-24.

The top scorers for the winning team were Desmond Chin, Vivian Aulder and Kevin Loncke with 16, 12 and 10 points respectively while Kenneth Charles and Trevor Profitt top scored for Barama with 20 and 12 points respectively.

The presentation of trophies will take place this Saturday at the Herstelling Basketball Court. The winning team is expected to receive $60,000 along with individual trophies.
