In his presentation Director John Carpenter said it is yet another vision realised. As business increased in the area, “so too did our commitment to providing our staff and customers with the kind of premises in keeping with the standard of excellence” it has set. “This vision is what guides the Republic Bank strategic focus of expansion, improvement and innovation,” Carpenter said. He pointed out that the new branch is a significant milestone in a journey that began on February 1st, 1997 when the bank formally opened on the Essequibo Coast.

Meanwhile, in his address Managing Director Edwin Gooding said the board in keeping with the commitment to customers “approved the commencement of the preparation of plans and the proposed costs of $348M for the construction of this new signature branch”. The new facilities will greatly aid staff in upping customer service to Essequibo Coast customers, he said. Gooding added that the branch had, for the second year in a row, won the Quality Customer Service award in its network. He also said the idea to build a Bank in the area first stemmed from the desire to upgrade and expand its service in the community and after listening to customers it has expanded ATM service to adequately meet current needs with room to accommodate future growth.
