Teenager shot in Mazaruni shop robbery

A 18-year-old shop attendant in Oranapai was on Sunday shot in both thighs by a man who pretended to be a customer but who robbed the shop of $150,000.

A release from the police said that Nakita Ramson, of ‘BB’ Eccles, East Bank Demerara was alone in the shop located at Turtle Creek, New Road, Oranapai, Mazaruni when a man entered and requested a soft drink.

She was in the process of filling the order when the man jumped over the counter and held onto her demanding money.
She freed herself and ran out of the building, but the suspect fired two shots at her hitting her in the back of her thighs.
The bandit then escaped with the money.
