She said her brother’s children would taunt her daughter whenever she passed her uncle’s home. Yesterday afternoon, the injured woman’s mother said, her daughter was passing her uncle’s home, “on the dam”, when she was confronted by the man’s 12-year-old daughter who allegedly threw several degrading remarks at her .She said Jairanie approached her uncle to complain about his daughter’s behaviour and the man began to verbally and physically abuse her, exposing his private parts to her in the process. The man  subsequently picked up a piece of wood, which was given to him by his daughter, and dealt Bissoondyal  a blow to the right side of her head, just above the ear .The injured woman lost consciousness briefly before being rushed to the public hospital.

According to reports, the perpetrator was arrested by the police shortly after the incident while Bissoondyal was reported to be in a stable condition at the hospital.
