Mackeson English/K&S Futsal Tournament Second ‘knockout round commences tonight

The Cliff Anderson Sports Hall  comes alive tonight as the second knockout round of the Mackeson English/Kashif and Shanghai Futsal Tournament commences with four matches.

The first round of matches concluded on Monday night with Sunburst Camptown defeating Mahaica Determinators 4 – 2, Alpha United crushing Victoria Kings 4 – 0, Milerock crumbling 1 – 3 against Black Pearl and the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) losing  4 – 5 to Plaisance in an intriguing battle.

In the exhibition tournament, the Guinness Bar needled the Guyana Referees Football Council 1 – 0 and Banks DIH brushed aside Ansa McAl 3 – 1.

Black Pearl’s three goals energized the night  as they sent their opponents from Linden packing by taking the lead as early as the second minute from a Lonnell Johnson strike.

Tychius McAlmont and Mark Carter then scored in the 11th and 12th minutes for Black Pearl, respectively, while Steve Brewley scored Milerock’s lone goal in the 13th minute.

The upset of the night came when Plaisance stunned the army team in a thrilling encounter.  Plaisance went ahead in the seventh minute when they were awarded a penalty kick from which Chris Cox found the back of the net.

Stellon David with a hat-trick for GDF, scoring in the 14th, 18th and 20th minutes had them level with the opposition going into regulation time while Troy Charles and Kevin Richards were successful for Plaisance in the 26th and 22nd minutes.

In extra time Charles and Maurice Young rocked the net in the 33rd and 34th minutes to give Plaisance the lead again even as Marlon Benjamin blasted the back of the net in the 35th minute for GDF’s fourth goal.

Camptown was led by a Rishawn Sandiford double (11th and 23rd) while he was supported by Tito Adams (8th) and Norris Carter (16th) to overshadow Mahaica’s two goals scored by Troy Morris and Colvis Wilson in the 27th and 17th minutes.
The final match of the night had Alpha’s A. Sylvester, Shawn ‘Fatso’ Bishop and Gordon Henry scoring in the 18th, 23rd and 28th and receiving an own goal which accounted for the four goals that sank Victoria Kings.
