North Korea has nearly restored nuclear plant: report

SEOUL (Reuters) – North Korea is in the final stages of restoring facilities at its Yongbyon nuclear complex, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency quoted a government source as saying today.

“We have obtained indications that point to restoration work being in the final stages,” the unnamed South Korean government source was quoted as saying. “The work to restore nuclear facilities at Yongbyon has been ongoing since early this year.”

North Korea had walked away from a deal to end its nuclear program citing what it called US intentions to attack it but its leader Kim Jong-il said this week his country was willing to return to dialogue.
