Revenue authority sets up integrity committee

The Guyana Revenue Autho-rity (GRA) has established an Integrity Management Com-mittee and is hosting its second integrity management workshop.

In a press release yesterday the GRA said the integrity of an organisation is part of its core component as it speaks to its reputation and reliability. As such it hosted an eight-day integrity and customs workshop in September to ensure that its management is competent, honest and knowledgeable about their roles and responsibilities. After the workshop, an integrity management committee (IMC) was established to lead these efforts.

The main objective of the workshop is to build capacity and help it to modernise its services. It served to acquaint managers, senior managers and heads of departments with the principles and factors that influence integrity. Other critical areas such as leadership, commitment, transparency, a code of conduct, human resource management and public awareness were also discussed. The GRA said it is critical that these issues are addressed as it collects almost 90% of the country’s total revenue.

It said too the IMC is headed by an integrity management champion who will lead its efforts. The second workshop will close on Tuesday.
