The third annual Fruta Conquerors organized NAMILCO Football Festival recommences today after the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) lifted their suspension of the tournament following a stabbing incident on the opening night. The tournament will continue this afternoon with a replay of the  Riddim Squad and Pele fixture which was halted following the incident at the Tucville Playfield.

In the second game Santos FC will go head to head with Bakewell Top XX at 6pm while the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) clashing with Bakewell Buxton Stars in the feature game of the triple header at 8pm.

Secretary of the FC, Lavern Thomas-Fraser, told Stabroek Sport yesterday that the GFF had made two rulings which were that the abandoned game between Riddim Squad and Pele FC be replayed and that Garfield Tyrell be banned for life from and GFF related activities a  decision confirmed by General Secretary of the GFF Noel Adonis. Thomas-Fraser added that Fruta Conquerors have also instituted a life ban on Tyrell from the Tucville Ground, which means he will not be allowed into the venue at any event being held there.

The decision to institute life ban on Tyrell came following a meeting of the disciplinary committee on Wednesday a decision endorsed by the GFF.

On the subject of security, Fraser disclosed that the club has put systems in place for permanent security throughout the tournament after getting permission from the Guyana Police Force (GPF).

Contacted for a comment Commander of ‘A’ Division, Leroy Brumell said  that the club did apply for security but  they are awaiting word on the resumption of the tournament.
