GTU president remanded on carnal knowledge charge

The allegation is that on October 7 at Georgetown, King had sex with a female under the age of 15.

He was not required to plead to the indictable charge of carnal knowledge when it was read to him by the acting chief magistrate.

The matter was called to the bench and a lengthy discussion ensued.

King’s calm expression suddenly changed to a  state of shock on learning that he would have to spend the next four days at the Camp Street prison.

As he reluctantly walked towards the chute to be escorted out of the courtroom, the defendant kept shaking his head in disbelief at being remanded.

The accused was represented by attorney-at-law Mark Waldron.

He was ordered to return to court on November 9.
