Cabinet approves $278M interior road rehab contracts

Cabinet has offered no objection to several road rehabilitation contracts, including to seven awards valued $278M to the interior road programme.

Cabinet Secretary Dr Roger Luncheon told reporters yesterday the contracts cover road and transport infrastructure rehabilitation in Regions 8, 9, 1 and 10.

Dr Luncheon also said cabinet did not object to the award of the contract for the rehabilitation of culverts and roads in the McKenzie and Wismar business districts, valued $36.6M. Also rehabilitation of drainage work in McKenzie would take place with the award of a $41.4M contract. Further, cabinet did not object to the contract of $43.5M for the rehabilitation of the access road leading to Lake Mainstay in Region 2. The contract for the rehabilitation of community roads in Region 4 on the East Coast and East Bank, valuing $478.333M, also received a no-objection.
