Mental exam ordered for ‘God’ remanded on carnal knowledge charge

Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson has ordered a mental examination for a 27-year-old barber, who said that he is God and that he is willing to marry 14-year-old girl that he is accused of carnally knowing; he was also remanded to prison.

Lawrence Mc Donald of Broad and Russell streets was not required to plead to the indictable charge of carnal knowledge when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court

It is alleged that between December 10 and 14, at Robb Street, he had carnal knowledge of a 14-year-old girl.

Mc Donald stated that he did not have sex with the teenager but rather he offered her a place to stay when she ran away from home since she told that she was being physically abused by her family.

He said that this incident occurred in January last and that since then a physical examination was conducted on the teen and the doctor found no traces of her having sex.

“I din do she nothing,” he said “We just mek out… all we do is play and sleep in de same bed together.”

He said he knew nothing about the allegation.

Mc Donald then told the magistrate: “I deh here without weed or alcohol in me head… I is God and I don’t have to go to church… If she [the teen] love me I gun marry she.”

He is scheduled to make another court appearance on January 14.
