The Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) on Thursday launched its 2010 calendar featuring the winning entries from children who participated in a recent competition.

In remarks at the launching, the bank’s CEO John Tracey said the theme of the calendar: ‘Your Home, Your Life, Live in Love’ was chosen because of the importance of a comfortable, nurturing and loving environment for children’s development.

Secretary General of the Guyana National Commission for UNESCO, Inge Nathoo, was a special invitee at the launch in recognition of UNESCO’s role in boosting education and culture. Tracey said the bank recognises the importance of the nexus between a well balanced personality and the impact such persons can have on the economy and society.

Tracey said the messages the children presented that have been depicted on the calendar are self-explanatory and he hopes parents and guardians are paying the requisite attention. He extended congratulations to the winners and runners-up. He said too the bank is grateful to all the children who participated in the competition.
