Brindley Benn was part of the struggle to make Guyana better for all

When someone who lived a reasonably long and productive life passes on we do not mourn, we rejoice and are glad that we had such a person among us. Brindley Horatio Benn was such a person; he spent the better part of his life in the struggle to make this land a better place for us all.

I first met Brindley when he was Deputy Premier in the PPP government, and as the years went by we became quite friendly. In 1989 he and I visited Trinidad to meet trade unionists there; the men we met were Selwyn John, Lyle Townsend and some others

Brindley was a true son of Guyana’s soil who was always concerned about the welfare of the working class, and in the future when people meet to discuss those Guyanese who made tremendous contributions for the betterment of Guyanese society, Brindley Horatio Benn will have to be mentioned in that discussion.

Yours faithfully,
