Helping hand for Berbice needy families

Almost 20 needy families from various communities in Berbice recently benefitted from food hampers that were donated by employees of the Scotia Bank, New Amsterdam Branch.

The items were handed out to the families at a simple ceremony held at the bank. The distribution of the hampers which consisted of food as well as other household items was an initiative of the staff.

Branch Manager, Phillip Freeman said his employees generated the funds for the exercise through a breakfast sale. He also said that it is “part of the Bank’s corporate responsibility of helping the less fortunate and giving to society” from which it garners support.
