Former Stanford employees to receive severence payments

(Antigua Sun) Former employees of Stanford are reporting that their former employer has been co-operating in terms of providing severance payments.

Last week, it was announced that all Stanford employees were to be severed following months of uncertainty whether any such payment was forthcoming.

In a release written by Scott Glendinning, it was stated that the Stanford Severed Employees Committee has so far, in conjunction with Cumberbatch and Associates, completed the severance calculations for registered former employees of Stanford Financial Group Ltd, Stanford Development Company Ltd, Stanford Caribbean Ltd, Sticky Wicket, The Pavilion, Antigua Athletic Club, Stanford Group Antigua Ltd and Stanford 20/20 Ltd.

They will be meeting with those employees who have signed the petition for representation to verify the figures during the period 9 July to 15 July at the Headquarters of the Antigua and Barbuda Union of Teachers, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

Employees were asked to present a copy of their termination letter so that vacation and any other payments can be added to their claim.

The committee has also asked that any former employees who have not yet signed, may attend, sign and verify their calculations on these days also.

The statement said, “Please be guided that the Committee and Cumberbatch and Associates will only represent those employees who have authorised us to do so.”

Glendinning also reported that representation has also been made with the Receivers at Stanford International Bank and Stanford Trust Company on the matter of correct severance and payment timetable.
