-Ghost Riders dominate Friendship

Guyana National Shipping Corporation (GNSC) scored a cliffhanger win over Ghost Riders while Knight Riders proved too strong for Friendship when play continued last weekend in the Guyana Softball and Windball Cricket Association (GS&WCA) sponsored 15-15 Tapeball cricket tournament at GS&WCA ground on Carifesta Avenue.

The clash between GNSC and Ghost Riders was decided by a Super Over after both teams scored 149 runs.  GNSC prevailed after they scored nine runs in the decisive over then restricted Ghost Riders to six runs.
Earlier, Ghost Riders scored 149-6 off their allotted overs with Michael Johnson top scoring with 44 and James Walcott supported with 33. GNSC’s Kunraj Singh bagged 3-18 while Sherman Smith took 1-24.

GNSC replied with 149-3 with K. Rodrigues leading the way with 53 while Singh chipped in with 24.

Knight Riders then defeated Friendship by seven wickets as Friendship took first strike and were bowled out for 87 in 14.1 overs.

Jatendra Ramlachand scored 23, while Danraj Susankar and Rickey Sergeant both bagged three wickets for Knight Riders who replied with 91-3 in 11-5 overs.

Guyana Water Inc. (GWI) disposed of Hawkeye by six wickets. Hawkeye were restricted to 83-6 off their allotted overs with Trevon Ellis hitting 26 as GWI’s Anarea Benn and Ramchand Jailall took two wickets each.

In reply, Jailall and Ravi Parsram were left unbeaten with 25 and 15 respectively as GWI hit off the runs for the loss of four wickets.

Mocha proved too strong for Terrence X1, beating their opponents by five wickets. Terrence X1 made 91-6 off 15 overs and Mocha replied with 92-5 with captain Federick Delph top scoring with 24.

In other results, GGMC were booted out by Falcon who won by 68 runs, Republic Bank fell to Golden Achievers by seven wickets, Queenstown defeated Outlaws by eight wickets and PHARMAGEN got the better of John Fernandes Ltd.

Meanwhile, the competition continues this weekend with seven second round matches.

On Saturday, Bank of Guyana will tackle Enmore at 09:00hrs, followed by Mercenaries versus Strikers and Golden Achievers against Pinewood Marketing Inc. at 13:00hrs.  Falcon will oppose Knight Riders while GNSC will do battle with Kingston at 15:00hrs.

On Sunday, Hillfoot Strikers will come up against Park Rangers at 13:00hrs while at 15:00hrs Ghetto Stars will face Sterling Products

All matches will be played at the GS&WCA ground on Carifesta Avenue.
