Sarwan is one of the senior West Indies players currently being sidelined by the bitter contract impasse between West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and West Indies Players Association (WIPA). The tournament will be played among four teams.

Apart from teams from the three counties of Berbice, Essequibo and Demerara, a  Rest teams to  be made up of the standby players from the three counties has been added to the competition.

At a recent press conference of the GCB, president Chetram Singh stated that this move was an effort to add a more competitive edge to the competition.

The prolific right hand batsman Sarwan, last played in the President’s Premier League captaining the President’s XI side. He made scores of three and zero and no doubt will be looking forward to get some match practice if he should be chosen for the end-of-year tour to Australia and more particularly help Demerara to win the title.
