I would like to start 2010 on a positive note, through giving recognition to where it is due. It is the recognition of two government luminaries for conduct becoming and meritorious.
First, there is Dr Roger Luncheon, the HPS. From all reports, the man is a tireless worker, and consistently so. He has maintained this through thick and thin, despite being the messenger burdened with lots of dirty jobs. I do not write today of his weekly press contortions, or Greenspanesque flights. More important, his tenure has been graced with integrity and personal incorruptibility. He is to be saluted for his impeccable financial and work ethics.
Then, there is Prime Minister Samuel Hinds. I repeat what went before in praise of his colleague. But, there is more. PM Hinds stands out blindingly in one very specific area. In the print media, he is the one senior government official, who is consistently photographed with his wife by his side. This surrogate first couple has been so pictured time and again over the years. This photogenic pair highlights a glaring blank: it is a blank lacking in other ministerial couples captured in public Kodak moments.
To PM and Mrs Hinds, I offer congratulations on the maintenance and celebration of your marriage.
It is quite likely that there are others of the ilk of Mr Hinds and Dr Luncheon exhibiting a requisite class and style. I will duly recognize, as they are discovered.
