Three held, released in ‘Keyco’ fatal chopping probe

Police have arrested and since released three persons on station bail in connection with the fatal chopping of an Albouystown resident on New Year’s Eve.

Wendell Tappin, called `Keyco’, 23, of 89 La Penitence Street, Albouystown was rushed to the Georgetown Hospital last Thursday where he was later pronounced dead.

His mother, Silvia Kisshore, had told Stabroek News that Tappin had told her he was going to collect his cell phone which he had charging in Hill Street. She said that he had given somebody the phone to charge.

Shortly after, the woman recalled, persons had gone to the house and told her that her son was being chopped. Reports were that two men confronted Tappin with one holding him down while the other chopped him.

The suspected assailants were taken into police custody. However, after the legal 72 hours, during which police are allowed to keep them in custody, elapsed they were released on station bail. A senior police source confirmed this yesterday afternoon.
