Security services need police approval for uniforms

Guards from a security service cannot wear a specific uniform without the permission of the Commissioner of Police.

This announcement was made by police in a release last evening after they discovered two men, attached to a private security firm, wearing uniforms on January 2nd while on duty at a Main Street night club.

According to the release, “ranks of a mobile police patrol encountered two men wearing uniforms that indicated they were security guards attached to a particular private security organization”.

Investigations, police said, revealed that the security service had not applied for nor obtained the approval of the Commissioner of Police for the men to wear the uniform before commencing operations.
