GNRA fundraiser raises over one million dollars

According to Sampson, the GNRA plans to embark on a more aggressive campaign to meet its overseas commitments and more activities have been planned for this year.

According to Sampson, the raffle attracted countrywide participation and he was pleased with the response.

Sampson said prize winners included residents of Bartica, Berbice, East Coast Demerara and Essequibo.

The presentation ceremony took place last Saturday at the Valu Maxx Store Regent and Oronoque Streets with the following persons winning the top 10 prizes.

Winning the top prize of one Haier Refrigerator was Azam A. Ally of Barrack Street Kingston. The second prize of a Seven Piece Dining Set went to Ashlika Persaud.

The third and fourth prizes of one 29” Haier Flat Screen TV and one Haier Washer/Dryer were won by  Michael Brass  and G. Henry  of Clonbrook, East Coast Demerara respectively.

The fifth prize of one Super Cook 4-burner Gas Stove was won by Sharon Cheeks of South Ruimveldt Park.

Sixth prize of one Haier Microwave went to Antoinette Lam of Golden Grove EBD; seventh place – one Haier Blender Claudette Braithwaite  of North East La Penitence; eighth place – one Haier Toaster Oven Charles Fung-A-Fat of Barima Avenue Bel Air Park; ninth place – one 47 piece Dinner Set Marcia Searwar of East Street and tenth place – one Cake mixer with bowl Nizam Kasem of Bartica.

There were also several consolation prizes.

Guyana will be travelling to Barbados in May to defend the Annual West Indies fullbore long and short range titles, while the handgun section will compete in a regional competition in the Caribbean island in June. Local shooters are expected to be among Guyana’s contingent to the Commonwealth Games in India later this year.
