A 26-year-old farmer was remanded to jail by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson after pleading not guilty to breaking into the dwelling house of Sean Day.

Richie Seepaul of Base Road, Timehri, East Bank Demerara is alleged to have broken and entered the dwelling house of Day on February 15 at Soesdyke and stolen $8,000.

The defendant declined to say anything when given the chance and according to Police Prosecutor Inspector Stephen Telford, the virtual complainant secured his house and went out.

On his return he found the defendant hiding behind a gas cylinder in his kitchen. When checks were made, the VC discovered that his money which was hidden in a suitcase was missing.

Meanwhile, $5,000 was returned to the VC by the defendant. Seepaul’s matter was transferred to the Providence Magistrate’s Court for February 26 for statements.
