Couple charged over El Dorado ammo

A pregnant woman has been released on $25,000 bail while her partner was remanded to prison when they appeared before Magistrate Nigel Hawke at the Weldaad Court on Thursday charged with unlawful possession of ammunition.

The court heard that on February 15 at El Dorado Village, West Coast Berbice, Kempton Allison, 30, a mason and Petronella Reynolds, 28 of Friendship, East Coast Demerara had in their possession four live 9 mm rounds without being the holders of licences.

Reynolds, a former special constable who is eight months pregnant was granted bail under “special circumstances.”

The duo was not required to plead to the indictable charge. The case comes up again on March 17.
