Trade fair showcases porcelain art

The Chinese Association is currently hosting the China Jing Zhen Art Porcelain Trade Fair at its Brickdam headquarters, offering the public a chance to obtain unique and decorative vases, wall paintings and Chinese handmade porcelain artefacts.

Exquisite Chinese hand painted porcelain tea sets, made in the Jiang Xi province, the birth place of ceramics, are also available at the China Jing Zhen Art Porcelain Trade Fair.

Alice Cao of the Chinese Association explained that the fair is a world wide event, which showcases the “unusual, uncommon and unique pure porcelain ceramics” from the Jiangxi Province of China, which Cao says is the birth place of ceramics.

The Jiangxi Province Jingdezhen city is China’s centre for porcelain production and ceramics were said to be produced as early as the 1800s in the Eastern Han Dynasty there.

This is according to www.travelchinaguide.com.

Unique outdoor furniture made entirely of porcelain as well as vases of all sizes can be purchased at the porcelain trade fair on at the Chinese Association building on Brickdam.

Anyone looking to add something exotic to their indoor décor can find beautifully crafted wall pictures, which are also made of porcelain. Some of the paintings are carved and then painted. But, as Cao pointed out, it is all done by hand.

Persons looking for unique art pieces such as this bed side lamp can find them at the fair, which runs until April 15.

Besides pictures, there are tea sets crafted with skill and care, Chinese deities and vases of all shapes and sizes, beautifully decorated. One pair in particular, Cao pointed out, is over 200 years old.  There is even outdoor furniture available. And Cao assured that with care, the colour won’t fade and the porcelain won’t chip.

While items are high priced, Cao stated that persons who are interested have a hire purchase option.

They can pay a little down on the item and it will be put up for them until they pay the rest.

The China Jing Zhen Art Porcelain Trade Fair opened in Guyana on February 15 and will run for two months. The fair is a world wide event which will be visiting Suriname next. According to Cao the fair will be visiting over ten countries spending two months in each. Some of the countries already visited include Malaysia, North Korea and Singapore.
