Annandale man remanded on possession charge

Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton on Tuesday remanded to prison an Annandale man accused of possession of ganja for the purpose of trafficking, when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court to answer to the charge.

Bernard Lackham of East Ville, Annandale, East Coast Demerara pleaded not guilty to the charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. He denied that on February 27, at Thomas Lands he had 24 grammes of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Prosecutor Joel Ricknauth requested that Lackham be remanded and that a date be set for his trial.

Lackham was ordered to appear in court on June 7.
