Ex-cop tells court he found bag of boots outside Discount Store

Thirty-one-year-old Eon Paul, an ex-policeman of North Ruimveldt, was yesterday granted bail in the sum of $70,000 when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court for allegedly breaking into the Discount Store and stealing several pairs of boots.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge of break and enter and larceny when Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson read it to him.

He denied that between February 26 and 27 he broke and entered the storage bond of the Discount Store and stole seven pairs of boots with a total value $25,000, the property of Rickwal Khan.

Paul stated that he never broke into the storage bond but that he found the boots in a bag outside the store.

He also said that the storage bond does not have a proper security system and so anyone could easily break into it.

However, Prosecutor Stephen Telford stated that Paul and another man broke into the store but only Paul was caught.

He made no objections to Paul’s bail application when he suggested it, but stated that it should be substantial.

Paul is expected to make another court appearance on March 18.
