Lance Hinds pledges more training, development at GCA Awards ceremony

Marketing Manager of the Guyana Cricket Association Lance Hinds, Friday night pledged to continue the association’s mandate of providing more training and developmental activities.

The dynamic Hinds made the disclosure at the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)  Youth Awards Programme at the Demerara Cricket Club.
Also speaking at the ceremony was former West Indies middle-order batsman Basil Butcher who, in delivering the feature address, emphasized the fact that more needed to be done to put cricket back on track in the region.
Butcher also thanked the GCA for recognizing and developing young cricketers.

Trophies were presented to the winners of the Lifetime Realty Under-15 and Yhann’s Electrical Under-19 competitions. Recognition was also given to the outstanding efforts of the players during the tournament and to the sponsors for supporting the competition.
Awards were also presented to the Demerara Cricket Club for winning the Lifetime Realty’s Under-15 competition while Everest Cricket Club won the Under-19 competition which was sponsored by Yhann’s Electrical. Transport Sports Club and Georgetown Cricket Club were recognized as the most disciplined Under-15 and Under-19 teams respectively.

Also rewarded for their outstanding Under- 15 performances were A. Gibson, who attained the highest score, Devon Lord, for having the best bowling performance and Tagenarine Chanderpaul of Gandhi Youth Organization, who was adjudged the MVP.

In the Under-19 category, the awardees were Omesh Dhanram, with the highest score, Raj Nanan, the best bowling performance and Chris Surat of Everest Cricket Club who was named the MVP.

Queensway Store has agreed to be a long term sponsor. The event was hosted by local funny man Henry Rodney.
