The men who are suspected to be involved in illegal activities are currently undergoing “profiling” before charges are laid against them, police sources said.
The sources told this newspaper that several homes in Canje were also searched on Wednesday and that led to the unearthing of four pounds of marijuana.
Meanwhile, similar exercises were also conducted in West Berbice from Abary to Ithaca between 3.15 am and 7.15 am yesterday. Roadblocks were also set up in the vicinity of the Berbice River Bridge.
Although no arrests were made, residents commended the joint efforts by the ranks to rid the area of criminal elements.
Police promised that the exercise would continue.
