Rainy, cloudy conditions expected for next two weeks

The Timehri Met Office predicts cloudy skies with showers occurring along the coast and parts of the hinterland over the next few days.

According to the Met Office, the weather forecast over the next two days   indicates that overcast conditions are expected to prevail over coastal areas and parts of the hinterland with weather stations across the country predicted to measure some 4.1mm of rainfall within a 24-hour period.

The Met Office in a six-day weather brief stated that cloudy skies may prevail tomorrow and conditions are predicted to improve by Friday with sunny skies and the possibility of light showers between today and Sunday. A daily average of 5mm of rainfall is expected during this period

According to AccuWeather.Com, Guyana is predicted to experience rainfall over the next three days with sunny conditions over the upcoming weekend through Tuesday but weather conditions may deteriorate from Wednesday with isolated showers prevailing over a six-day period.

Other internet weather databases predict overcast conditions over the Guiana Shield from Wednesday of next week, with 90% chances of rain and isolated thunderstorms predicted for the latter part of next week.

The Ministry of Agricul-ture had said that the dry weather condition, El Nino, which had been impacting severely on farming areas and the main water conservancies along the coastland as well as hinterland areas, would last until the end of April.

The ministry said it has stretched its resources to cushion the effects of the dry weather spell and persons have been calling on the authorities to ensure the main drainage areas across the country are cleaned in anticipation of rainfall.
