Restaurateur charged with giving false information to cops

The proprietor of Caribbean Temptation Restaurant has been placed on bail after being charged with giving false information last Friday.

Fredrick Roopnarine, called “Chuck” whose restaurant and bar is located at Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara made a report at the Leonora Police Station on April 6 that a mobile patrol had demanded money, which he paid to settle a matter.

According to a police statement, the charge was brought against Roopnarine after investigations by the police proved otherwise.

Roopnarine appeared before Magistrate Nayasha Williams-Hatmin at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrates’ court. He pleaded not guilty to the charge and is to make another appearance on June 2.
