Farmer remanded over assault

A Mackenzie man was remanded to prison on Tuesday, on charges of assault and threatening language.

Ragin Binning, 32, of 801 Determa Street, Mackenzie, pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Christianburg Magistrates’ Court.

It is alleged that on April 11, at Industrial Area, Binning unlawfully assaulted and made use of threatening language to Melissa Forde.

Binning, a farmer and construction worker, was denied bail when the prosecutor objected on the grounds that he was previously sentenced to two months’ community service but did not fulfil that sentence.
