Linden man remanded over threatening woman

Magistrate Ann McLennan remanded a man to prison on Tuesday when he appeared before her at the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court charged with threatening a woman.

Glenton Allicock, 48, of 14 Highway Boulevard, Amelia’s Ward, Linden was accused of making use of threatening language to Carmen Rodrigues.

Police Prosecutor Stephen Telford objected to bail on the ground of the prevalence of violence against women being perpetrated by male partners. Telford also told the court that the accused had repeatedly threatened the virtual complainant and because they lived in the same house, could be a danger to her if granted bail.

Magistrate McLennan conceded to Telford’s objection and Allicock was remanded to prison until May 12 for a probation report and the commencement of trial.

Rodrigues was advised to take out a restraining order against Allicock.
