A man was remanded to prison yesterday when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson charged with rape.
Orville Lestoir, 41, of 661 Field 8, South West Cummings Lodge, was not required to plead to the charge which read that on May 3, he had carnal knowledge of a female against her will.
Lestoir was represented by attorney Sasha Roberts in association with Adrian Thompson. Roberts told the court that her client knows nothing of the charge and the complainant in the matter is a stranger to him.
The attorney did not make a bail application but asked for an early date to be given.
Lestoir was then remanded and the matter put down for June 11 in Court Six.
