Bandits hold up McDoom gas station

Three gunmen held up staff at a Mc Doom, East Bank Demerara gas station during a robbery early yesterday morning and after failing to enter a room in the shopping mart, escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

During the ordeal which occurred around 2.15 am, an employee was gun butted.

According to reports reaching Stabroek News the bandits all armed with hand guns held up two pump attendants and a security guard, instructing them not to look at their faces. One of them reportedly lifted his face and was gun butted by one of the men. He was not seriously injured.

The trio was later relieved of cash and their cellular phones before being locked in a toilet.

Two of the men, this newspaper was told, broke into the shopping mart but was unable to get pass a locked door. They returned to their hostages and demanded the keys. When the staff told them that they didn’t have any keys to that door, the men fled the area.

Up to press time last evening, the suspects had not been arrested. Investigations are continuing.
