BK launches safety workshop for its drivers

The BK Group of Companies in collaboration with the GPF’s Traffic department launched a Traffic Safety Training Programme on Saturday to reinforce and upgrade the performance of the company’s drivers.

According to a press release from Public Communications Consultants Limited the exercise was conducted by Traffic Chief John Daniels. Managing Director of the Company Brian Tiwarie and senior managers participated in the two-hour programme.

The release said the BK Group has one of the largest motor vehicle fleets in the country amounting to about 204 vehicles including low-beds and articulated trailers with a fully-laden weight of 80 tons and a marine fleet of four tugs, eight barges and two jet boats. The company’s vehicles operate 24 hours per day, every day, across the country.

The Traffic Chief dealt with a range of safety matters and traffic laws ranging from the definition of a good driver to a comprehensive review of Guyana’s road system and how to use it responsibly. The programme is expected to continue over a number of weeks.
