Guyanese accused of trying to kill wife with hammer

(BVI Platinum News) – A Guyanese man who resides in West End has been charged with attempted murder after he dealt his wife blows with a claw hammer earlier in the week.

Vernon Paddy, an ex security officer at the Terrence B. Lettsome International Air-port was remanded to prison yesterday until June 4 when he will appear before Senior Magistrate Valerie Stephens. On that day, the prosecution will outline the allegations against Paddy who is unrepresented.

According to information, Paddy was apparently trying to get his wife to provide him with a number which showed up on her phone, but the woman was not cooperating, and this according to allegations angered the man.

Paddy then took a claw hammer and started to beat the woman about her body including in her head with the weapon.

The victim who received lacerations about her body managed to run out of the house screaming. This prompted neighbors to call the police. At this moment, it unclear as to the extent of the woman´s injuries.
