Accused Cuyuni stabber granted $75,000 bail

Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson on Tuesday granted $75,000 bail to Bronson Wiltshire, who allegedly stabbed a man with a knife in the Cuyuni River area.

The 30-year-old miner appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court and was not required to enter a plea to the charge of felonious wounding.

It is alleged that on May 27 at Arimu Landing, Cuyuni River, he feloniously wounded Jerry Thornhill.

Wiltshire stated that on the day in question he did not deliberately injure Thornhill but he was parting a scuffle between his friend and Thornhill when his knife accidentally cut Thornhill.

The prosecution made no objections to the bail application.

The matter was transferred to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court for June 9.
