Father put on $20,000 bail over unlawful assault of daughter

A father who was accused of unlawfully assaulting his daughter was placed on $20,000 bail yesterday by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.

Ragland Pollard allegedly unlawfully assaulted his daughter Fenika Lewis on June 6 at East Ruimveldt. He pleaded not guilty.

Pollard said that earlier in the day he had an argument with his younger daughter and Lewis got involved.

According to him, “she tek the problem and mek it she own.”

He claimed that Lewis behaved unruly and he pushed her.

He said she then left the home to make a report at the police station.

However, Lewis said her father pushed her into a door. He then reportedly got a stick when she informed him that she was going to make a report at the police station and said, “I gun dun your dance and all of them.” She said she was seeking justice since her father cannot speak to her in that manner.

Pollard then said, “I don’t know why she don’t stay at she home instead of coming by me to cause trouble.”

The prosecutor asked that the parties be referred to the probation department and Pollard was granted bail while the matter was set to come up on July 8.
