The alleged accomplice of Enrico Inniss, the man accused of trying to rob businessman Oudit Seenarain on June 4, was refused bail when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday charged with attempting to commit a felony.

Desmond Williams, 22, of Lot 1267 B Field Sophia, pleaded not guilty to the charge which reads that on June 4, he attempted to rob Seenarain under arms.

He was represented by Attorney-at-law Patrice Henry who asked for reasonable bail to be granted. He said that his client has no antecedent and has an alibi for the time of the incident.

The attorney said that on the day and time of the incident, Williams was at home with several friends who are willing to testify that he was in their company.

Seenarain said that on the day in question he was in front of a daycare when he was approached by a gunman who drew a weapon on him and in response he pulled out his licensed firearm and there was an exchange of gunfire. The gunman was wounded and then he attempted to jump onto the motorcycle which was reportedly being driven by Williams. According to Seenarain, after the wounded man fell Williams rode away. But Henry interjected at that point and said that it was a case of mistaken identity.

However Police Prosecu-tor Stephen Telford said that Williams was pinpointed at the identification parade held and there was no issue as to identification since the incident took place at 8:45 in the morning.

Bail was then refused and the matter transferred to Court Two for June 21.
