Linden citizen nabs thief after knife-point attack

A man who reportedly attempted to carry out a brazen daylight armed robbery is now in police custody, after he was caught by a public-spirited citizen.

The suspect brandished a knife and allegedly attempted to rob Langevine’s Internet Café at Central Amelia’s Ward.

Carlotta Langevine said that she was in Langevine’s Internet Café around 1.05pm when a young man entered the 1101 Lover’s Lane, Central Amelia’s Ward café which is located in her residence. The woman said on his arrival the man asked to be allowed to make a telephone call, after which he asked for a glass of water.

Langevine said she went into another room to get the water and on her return the man jumped over the counter and accosted her with a knife. She said she threw the glass of water at her attacker and immediately started screaming for help. The man then dropped the knife and ran from the café.

Meanwhile, Principal of the Linden School of Excellence Marlon Pearson responded to her cries by finding out the route the fleeing man took, hailed a car and pursued him. Pearson said he caught the suspect aback Kara Kara Creek.
