Comedy Jam theatre company clinches sponsorship deals with Aracari Resort, Sterling Products

In a brief interview, Morrison said the popular nature facility Aracari Resort and Sterling Products Ltd have now “come on board” and that support from the two entities will see Comedy Jam focus more attention on “road shows” that take account of the entertainment needs of the rural communities.

Under a one-year agreement with the Aracari each episode of Comedy Jam will be staged at the resort. The agreement kicks in tomorrow with the staging of ‘The Best of Comedy Jam’, a production that features performances from each of the three episodes of Comedy Jam staged so far.

Aracari Marketing Manager Vidya Binda said she believes the agreement would “add a new dimension to what Aracari has to offer” and that it would “bring a positive change to the entertainment culture in Region Three.” Tomorrow’s staging of ‘The Best of Comedy Jam’ coincides with the celebration of the second anniversary of the Aracari Resort.

Comedy Jam and Aracari Resort officials signing the agreement.

General Manager of Sterling Products Ramsay Ally said he was attracted to the idea of Comedy Jam being removed from the traditional setting of the Cultural and “brought to the streets.” He said that street theatre offers different kinds of marketing opportunities and that he was interested in seeing the impact of outdoor theatre on the marketing of his company’s ice cream products.

‘The Best of Comedy Jam’ is currently on a road tour, which, according to Morrison has seen the theatre company perform in Linden, Canje and Hopetown.  He said that what the theatre company was seeking to do was to extend the involvement of the business community at both the community and the national levels. “The whole idea is to create an opportunity for businesses to make a tangible contribution to the promotion of theatre and, by extension, entertainment at both the community and the national levels. With their support we can ensure that theatre reaches all of the various parts of the country.” Morrison also alluded to plans to commence a syndicated television screening of Comedy Jam beginning next month.
