Georgetown Lions install new president, executive

The Lions Club Georgetown installed its news president for 2009/2010 at a ceremony held on Saturday, as preparations move apace to celebrate its Golden Jubilee this year.

According to a press release Ted Semple was installed as the new president by Past Council Chairman Shabir Hussein. Other executive members installed are Secretary Lynette Baird, Treasurer Dale Johnson and vice presidents Grace Sylvain and Stacy McKinnon. Edward Persico and Desiree Harper function as directors, the release said, and Carl Singh is membership director.

Lions Baird, Oswald Kendall, McKinnon from the Education, Youth and Health Committee and Johnson, Maureen Paul and Shurla Brotherson from the Senior Citizens Committee and Singh from the Sight Conservation Committee were recognised for their service above self. Also, Gieraj Singh was inducted into the Lions family on Saturday. Additionally, outgoing president Leon Phoenix said he was grateful for the support he received during the year.
